PROVED 14OO years back, QUESTIONED today! Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) - Mercy to the Worlds
By: Sabiha Saifi
No one but only Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAAH be upon him) got the title of "Mercy to the Worlds" by the Lord of the Worlds, Our Creator, the Almighty GOD. Because none but he taught us about the Rights and made us known to freedom in the times of Ignorance! Because he never lived for himself but for humanity! Because generosity, humility, being just, sincerity, being truthful, forgiving, forbearing, bravery, being courteous, dedicated, eloquent, friendly, intellectual, inspiring, kind, loving, noble, patient, quiet, resourceful, tactful, trustworthy, unmatched, valiant, honourable, and zealous are just a few qualities of his great character. Because he liberated man from worshipping created things, he is the one who taught and was successful in bringing brotherhood and unity among men at the time when humans were ready to even kill each other for no reason!
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) through his character, established a reputation amongst his people for being fair and honest, so much so that even his enemies would come to him to resolve their disputes, yet I wonder how can one even think of defaming him and put on him false allegations (which are baseless and without any proofs)!
Today, few famous personalities simply come up and just speak about the problems of humanity, and they get encouragement for just to bring up those problems to the world, whereas Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) not only came up with those problems but he, 1400 years back, was even able to provide ultimate solutions to these problems!! Yes, that’s true...
People are still just debating on female foeticides, bad behaviour with women etc, whereas Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) 1400 years back, raised the status of a women three times than that of a man, in case of a Mother. The status of a woman is raised such that when she is a Daughter, she opens the door of paradise for her father; when she is a wife, she completes half of faith of her husband; and when she is a mother, paradise lies under her feet. And you are still debating about it!!
Today the world has made marriages as marketing and now again thinking for the solutions, and emphasising on simple marriages through various shows, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told the same thing 1400 years back that the best marriage is the one which is least expensive and with no show off! Unfortunately, women are burnt alive in this 21st century just because of dowry, at that time Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made dowry strictly prohibited!!
Love marriages are becoming a major issue today, women are still being forced to marry of their parents’ choice whereas our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAAH be upon him) 1400 years back, gave girls freedom to choose their own partners. He forbade those marriages in which girl was forced to marry a man not of her choice!
The educated generation of today are destroying their homes due to drinking and other addictive drugs whereas Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade every drink which causes intoxication!
It is becoming a great difficulty to take care of parents, whereas Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbid us to say even a word of disgust to them!
Adding confusion to the generation at one place, people come with the tags of being human and on the contrary they fight for nationalism, caste-ism, racism and what not! Either we can be simply human beings or we can be divided as nationalists, secularists, black or white and so on! But what did the Messenger of our Creator, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blesisngs of Allaah be upon him) thought? He said, “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white- except by piety and good action. Learn that every Believer is a brother to every Believer and that the Believers constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Believer, which belongs to a fellow Believer unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore, do injustice to yourselves.”
In fact, I personally don’t like the concept of nationalism, what did it give us except borders, egos and hatred?? We do not choose to be born, we do not choose our parents, we do not choose our historical epoch, the country of our birth, or the environment of our upbringing. We do not (most of us) choose to die nor do we choose the time and conditions of our death. But... Within this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we live and the honour of our characters to follow the right path of our journey, we choose kindness, we choose compassion and courage which is not a brutal force of vulgar heroes, but the firm resolve of virtue and reason, we choose the time committed to obtain the right knowledge to benefit mankind...humanity...our global village!
We are an Ummah (one nation) all that it comprises, it’s the gift of our Creator, may we honour it, may we honour ourselves, may we honour our own souls!!!
We already have guidelines to live a perfect and a peaceful life which our Creator sent to us through his Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The mankind has wronged no one but themselves by first ignoring Creator's rules and making their own rules. Today after seeing the ill-effects of self-made rules, people are trying to establish right things which we already should be following. But it’s not that late now. We still have time to realize our mistakes and the greater purpose of our lives. Let us turn back to our Creator and follow His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), before we no more have time to choose the right path.
“And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers’ way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination.” (Al Quran 4:115)
